About

The fabric will still look new when the elastic has given up.

Customized Scrunchies makes hair scrunchies to order — satin and genuine silk, cotton and jersey, velvet, oversized XL, printed and woven-label branded, and carded retail sets.

Custom printed scrunchies with logo

A scrunchie is a fabric tube gathered onto a loop of elastic. That is the whole product, and the two components fail at completely different rates.

The outer fabric will survive years of washing. The elastic will not, if it is a cheap braided cord: it goes slack after a few dozen stretches and the scrunchie is finished while the fabric still looks perfect. So the elastic width, its grade, and whether the ends are joined by a properly overlapped and stitched splice rather than butted together, is the specification worth arguing about.

It is also the one nobody quotes, because it is invisible inside the tube.

Why we exist

Two more things are decided before anything is sewn and neither appears on a spec sheet.

**The gather ratio** — the ratio of fabric tube length to finished elastic length. Gather three times and it is generous; gather barely more than once and it is a limp band with a seam. It is directly fabric cost, so it is the first thing reduced to hit a price, and it is the entire visual difference between a scrunchie that photographs well on a wrist and one that looks apologetic. We quote it as a number.

**The fibre, said properly.** Satin is a weave and silk is a fibre, and almost everything sold as a silk scrunchie is polyester satin. That is a good product. It is not silk, and we will not print that it is.

What we actually make

Satin and genuine mulberry silk, with the fibre and the weave named separately. Cotton and jersey, which grip rather than slide and take print far better. Velvet, with the pile direction laid consistently so the run does not look patchy. Oversized and XL, quoted on the gather ratio. Printed and woven-label branded scrunchies, designed for what a gather actually leaves visible. And carded retail sets in coordinated colourways.

Every one of them has the elastic width and the splice stated on the quote.

What we do not make

Bandanas, headbands, headscarves and hair wraps. Different products, different construction, and there are suppliers who do nothing else.

And we will not describe polyester satin as silk on a product, a card or a listing, however normal that has become in this category.

Choosing the fabric is choosing a trade-off

Satin slides. A low-friction surface moves against the hair cuticle instead of catching it, which is why it is recommended for anybody who ties their hair up daily. The same property means it slides out of hair more easily.

Cotton and jersey grip, which is what somebody running or working a shift actually needs, and they take dye and print properly. The grip is more cuticle friction than satin.

Velvet grips hardest of all and holds in thick or freshly washed hair that nothing else stays in. It is also a nap fabric and a seasonal seller.

None of these is the premium option. They are answers to different questions, and we will ask who is wearing it before we recommend one.

How we price

No dollar figures on this site. Price moves with the fibre, the gather ratio, the size, the branding method and the quantity — and the gather ratio is a bigger lever than most people expect, because it is pure fabric. Send the details and a real quote comes back the same day, with a lowest-price guarantee if you are already holding a cheaper one. Ask that supplier for their ratio too.

On branding

Gathering swallows print. If the fabric is three times the finished length, two thirds of the printed surface is tucked inside a fold, so a single placed logo mostly disappears and partly distorts across a pleat.

Use an all-over repeat at a smaller scale so something legible always faces out, or put a small woven label in the seam — which survives washing, does not fight the fabric, and reads as a fashion product rather than as merch, which is usually what makes people wear it. We proof on the gathered shape, never on the flat.
